kim-skeath

Kim has lived on the North Shore for over 20 years where she currently works as the Manager of Workplace Health and Wellness for Seaspan ULC which is a large shipbuilding and marine transportation company. A graduate of Simon Fraser University, with a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Kinesiology, Kim has worked as a clinical exercise therapist in chronic pain programs, community-based programs and as an occupational health consultant since the early 90’s. Her work at Seaspan the past thirteen years has evolved from occupational health and safety consulting where her primary focus was on ergonomics and injury prevention to the development of an extensive Ability Management program for the five companies that comprise Seaspan ULC. Kim was a key player in the development of Seaspan’s addiction treatment program in 2006. This included developing policies and procedures for accessing treatment, and developing Seaspan’s addiction treatment benefit plan in addition to the delivery of training sessions to employees throughout the company. She is well-respected by her peers in Operations and Safety. The creation of this program involved consultation, collaboration and engagement with Seaspan’s senior leadership team and the sixteen unions representing employees in their shipyards and marine fleet. The transformation Kim has seen with employees and their families who through education have sought, found and work hard for new lives in recovery is amazing.

Kim’s other passion is coaching community and high school sports and enjoying outdoor pursuits with her family. Kim donates time to professional and community service groups and is committed to the many initiatives and events she volunteers for through the JDRF.
